CHARGE AGAINST SEAMAN
"Accused was apparently drunk at the time of the offences," said Detec-tive-Sergeant McHugh in the Police Court on Saturday when Malcolm MacIver. aged 26. seaman, appeared on a charge of stealing a pair of leather soles, valued at Is 3d, from a city store. Mr. McHugh said that accused had bought one pair and had been seen putting another pair in his pocket. Accused was lined 5s on a charge of drunkenness, but the second charge was dismissed on payment of costs.
