A SWEEPING INQUIRY COMMITTEE FOR PURPOSE WIDE ORDER OF REFERENCE By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received February 4, 5.5 p.m.) OTTAWA, Feb. 3 The House of Commons yesterday established machinery for the most sweeping; Parliamentary inquiry into the industrial conditions in Canada ever attempted in this Dominion. It passed unanimously a motion sponsored by the Prime Minister, Mr. R. B. Bennett, to set up a committee of 11 members to investigate price increases between consumers and producers. The instructions to the committee were couched in very wide terms, but emphasis was laid on an investigation of the mass buying practices of chain and department stores, labour conditions in industries, the relations between the flour milling industry and the bakeries, and the methods of marketing live stock and animal products of all sorts.
