PLAZA THEATRE
The screening of "This Week of Grace" at the Plaza Theatre continues to be attended by unusually large audiences. Gracie Fields, the vivacious Lancashire comedienne, whose previous two talking pictures mado her as popular on the screen as on the English variety stage, gives a splendid performance as a North Country factory girl. A series of misadventures leads to her dismissal, but chance throws her in the way of an eccentric old duchess who offers her a position managing her estates, the financial position of which is very unsatisfactory. With her family sho moves from her humble honi<s in the poorer quarters of an industrial town to a palatial castle, and the ignorance of her family regarding the manners of society is responsible for many hilarious situations. Gracie, however, does her best to fit herself for her position, and the story moves rapidly to a happy conclusion. There is an excellent supporting programme, a feature of which is a bracket of songs by Mr. Denis Sheard, a well-known Auckland tenor.
