DEPARTURE FOR NORTH CELEBRATIONS AT WAITANGI The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, arrived in Auckland by the limited express from Wellington on Saturday morning. In the absence of the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, he was met by the deputymayor, Mr. A. J. Entrican, and the Mayoress, Mrs. Hutchison. There was also a gathering at the station, including the Hon. J. Trevethick, M.L.C., Air. G. Grey Campbell, Mr M. J. Sheahan, and Mr. G. Mills, Mayor of Birkenhead.

The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by Mrs. Forbes, their two daughters, Misses Bertha and Jessie Forbes, and Mr. C. A. Jeffery, private secretary, spent the morning in Auckland. Early in the afternoon the party left by motor-car. for Whangarei. whero Saturday night was spent. They continued on to Paihia yesterday. The Prime Minister, who will take part in the ceremonies at Waitangi, will-return to Auckland next Thursday, and oji Friday ho will officially open the Royal Show at Epsom, leaving the same evening for Wellington. The Minister of Finance, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, also arrived from Wellington by the limited express on Saturday morning, and was met by Mr. G. H. Wilson, president of the Reform League. He left almost immediately for Kawau to witness the racing at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron's regatta. Last evening he left for the North to attend the Waitangi celebrations. Mr. Coates is accompanied by Mrs. Coates and their daughter, Miss S. Coates. The Minister of Lands, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, left on Saturday morninc by motor-car for Waitangi. En route he visited the Warkworth Show. The Minister, who is accompanied by Mr. W. Robertson, Under-Secretary of Lands and chairman of the Small Farms Board, expects to return to Auckland next Wednesday.

Tho Hon. C. E. Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture, received a number of deputations on Saturday morning, and in the afternoon he visited a dairv farm at Papatoetoe, where he witnessed a demonstration of an all-metal milk strainer made in Auckland, embodying e, number of new features. Mrs. Macmillan and Miss Macmillan arrived from Wellington by train Yesterday morning, and left in tho evening with tho Minister by special train for Waitangi. Mr. W. R. King, Mr. Macmillan's private secretary, also accompanied the party. The Minister will attend the Royal Show on Friday. Tho Minister of Education, the Hon. R. Masters, accompanied by Mrs. and Miss Masters, and by his private secretary, Mr K. M. Sleight, arrived from Rotorua last evening, and continued his journey to Waitangi by special train in the evening. The Hen. F. H. Stewart, Federal Minister of Commerce, and Mrs. and Miss Stewart were travelling with Mr. Masters' party. The Minister of Justice, 'the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, arrived in Auckland from the south yesterday morning, and continued his_ journey to Waitangi in the evening by the special Parliamentary train.
