THE HACK CUP CONTEST RACE BEARS OPEN ASPECT / / CALIENTE WELL FANCIED A pood class field of hacks Tvill contost- the Matamata Hack Cup at the Matamata Racing Club's meeting today, and the event is creating a great Seal of interest, as the issue appeal's very open. The majority of the candidates have shown some form at recent meetings and among those who have been racing well are Caliente, Teels, Gay Broney and Last Lap, all of whom should be capable of forward showings. Record Flight ran two good races at Thames and is/ an improver likely to do better. Huskie shaped well at Pukekohe and Blight improvement upon his running there should make him very dangerous. Gay Broney is very fit and can be relied upon for a solid performance. Cherry King did not do auite as well as expected at Takapuna, but he may do better here, as the Long straight will not be to his disadvantage. D'Artagnan has been working very satisfactorily, and, although he now makes a noise, may go well. Teels is a recent winner and should have good Prospects if she repeats the form she displayed at Pukekohe. Phiakao disappointed at Pukejiohe, but he is capable of doing better. Solarium is a good galloper of whom the best hsis not yet been seen, and Grand City is also ©peedy. although lack of recent racing .may be against him- Tho best of the others may be Lapstone, Miss Rewa and Gay Rose.
