LETTERBOX CORNER

DEAR BOYS AND GIRLS,— Holidays really over at last! School the day after to-morrow 1 How well I remember that " going back " feeling, and it wasn't all regret, either. There -was the thrill of entering a higher standard. meeting new pupils and playmates, and at the back of my mind always the thought, " One year nearer the end of school days!" And I expect that is b ow a y° u are f ee hng this morning I So I have tried to make the page as bright and interesting as possible, L because, in spite of the looking-forward, the last day of the long holiday is always just a little bit■well, not exactly sad, but tinged with a wistful remembrance of holidays over, the thought of a year of work ahead. Perhaps the outlook for many of our older boys and girls, who have achieved their " proficiency " is not very bright, hut they must take heart, and believe that 1934 really IS going to hold more happiness for us all than the year that is past. / You will see the first of our new and delightful series, " The Furry Family's Frolics " to-day, and next week there will be another interesting feature, the first of a new series of special interest to our boy. members upon the enthralling subject of aviation. These articles have been written and illustrated specially for " Boys and Girls," and I hope the boys will take full advantage, later on, of " Tarmac's " invitation to write to him. The display of paintings is still on view, so if any of you are paying belated visits to town you will still have an opporti/nity of seeing them. Good-bye to you all now, and best wishes for Monday! • Your friend,
