LIFE GIVEN FOR WIFE
COUPLE SUFFOCATED The heroism of a man who gave his life in an attempt to save his wife, who lay paralysed in bed in a burning room, was revealed at Hastings, England. Firemen entered a bedroom and recovered the bodies of Mr. Herbert Foord, aged 66, and his wife, aged 65. The wife had been bedridden for years; and her husband occupied a separate bed in the same room. It is believed that when ho awoke to find his bed on fire, the clothes having been set alight by an oil stove, be went to his wife's bed and was overcome in trying to rescue hoi. His body was found against the bed, on which his wk'o lay suffocated.
