DARWIN IN THE BEAGLE
Darwin once wrote: " The voyage of the Beagle has been by far the most important event in my life, and has determined my whole career." At the age of twenty-two he went as naturalist with the Beagle on a scientific survey of South American waters, and was away for five years. The complete text of the MS. journal of this voyage is to be published by the Cambridge University Press, edited by Darwin's granddaughter, Mrs. Nora Barlow. Darwin visited New Zealand in the course of the Beagle's voyage.
