OBITUARY
MRS. E. J. ROCHE The death occurred at her residence, Grand Avenue, Mount Albert, of Mrs. Georgina Roche, wife of Mr. E. J. Roche, formerly postmaster at Papakura. Mrs. Rocho had a wide circle of friends in various parts of the North and South Islands where her husband had been stationed. A daughter of tho late Mr. W. F. Thompson, ono of the early pioneers of North Auckland, she was an earnest worker for the Church of England and was connected with both St. Luke's Church and St. Margaret's Church, Mount Albert. Mrs. Roche is survived by her husband, two brothers and four sisters. Tho funeral was held at Waikumete Cemetery, services being conducted at St. Margaret's Church and at the graveside by the Rev. H. B. Wingfielu. MR. C. W. LODGE The death occurred recently at Napier of Mr. Claude William Lodge, nt the age of 48 years. Mr. Lodge, who was born in Auckland, was tho youngest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. H. J. Lodge, of Pukckohe. He was educated in Pukckohe, and was for some years manager of one of the branches of S. Stone and Company, of Auckland, now the Stono Shoe Company, Limited. He was later manager for Pearson and Company. Wellington. For the last five years he had resided in Napier as manager of tho boot department of the local branch of Sargood, Son and Ewcn, Limited. Ho was on tho executive of tho Napier Orphans' Club, and when in Auckland was a member of the Devonport Orphans' Club. In his younger days lie was prominent in tennis and football circles, and was a member of the Pakuranga Hunt Club. He is survived by his wife and three sons. MRS. HANNAH MacDONALD Mrs. Hannah Mac Donald, who died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Eric Sherson, of 25 Grand Avenue, Mount Albert, on Thursday, was tho widow of the late Hon. William Donald Stuart Mac Donald, Leader of tho Opposition when Mr. Massey was in power. Mrs. Mac Donald was born near Balclutha, Otago, in 1862, and was married in Duncdin in 1885. For the greater part of her married life she lived at Tokomaru Bay, where for many years her husband managed sheep stations, eventually taking up "Lorno" station at Pulia, near Gisborne. Mrs. Mac Donald continued to take a very keen interest in tho affairs of the Liberal Party until tho end. Sho is survived by two sons, Mr. S. MacDonald, of Tolaga Bay, Mr. W. MacDonald, of Matamata, and two daughters, Mrs. H. A. Davis, of Singapore, and Mrs. Eric Sherson.
