DISABLED SOLDIERS
CIVIL RE-ESTABLISHMENT ACTIVITIES OF LEAGUE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLD* GTOX, Friday The Dominion headquarters of the Soldiers' Civil Re-establishment League held a meeting concerning disabled soldiers and their re-establishment in suitable civilian employment. The headquarters personnel consists of Colonel Falla, chairman, and the following nominees:—Mr. H. Burdekin, Returned Soldiers' Association; Mr. H. Digby-Smith, Government; Mr. A. E. Ma.nder, Manufacturers' Federation; Mr. C, M. Luke, National War Funds; Mr. C. G. Camp, Employers' Federation; and Mr. J, Tucker, Trades and Labour Council. In addition, Mr. J. S. Barton will act as Government commissioner to coordinate the activities which had been set up prior to the launching of the league and to give other assistance. Schemes already in operation include a fibre and leather bag and suitcase factory, home craft factories, basketware, brassware, and Angora rabbit and poultry farming. There are a number of other schemes, which will be considered in due course. Some 300 disabled soldiers are engaged in this occupational employment, and the total number of pensioners alone who may be assisted under the scheme is in the vicinity of 2500.
