MAINTENANCE OF ROADS Owing to the wear caused fry heavr holiday motor traffic, necessary maintenance work on Cook Street, Church Street and Cockle Bay Road war authorised at the last meeting of th* Howick Town Board. It was reported that in the past fortnight there had been a heavy demand on the local water supply from Piseon Mountain, a total of 490,000 calloni having been registered in that period. Permission was granted for relief labour to be employed in ground im> provements at the Howick School and . in giving attention to ornamental treei recently planted :in Cook Street.
