FABRICATION OF STEEL [BV TELEGRATH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN,. Wednesday A further consignment of 250 tons of stool for the new post office has been landed at Port Chalmers, where the fabricating of the metal is being carried out. All the steel work—about 2000 tons—will be ready for putting into place and riveting up when it is delivered at the post office about Easter.
Ihe stool work will be erected in three main sections, and the lowest, that from the basement to the first lloor, will be 40ft. in height, the steel pillars being of that length. A feature of the construction is that it is designed to withstand earthquake shocks.
