GIGANTIC BALLOON
AMERICAN ENTERPRISE altitude record sought (Received January 17, 5.5 p.in.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 1G The United States Army and Air Corps and the National Geographic Society announce that they are sponsoring jointly an attempt to break the stratosphere record next summer with a balloon that will be the largest ever constructed. It will have a gas capacity of three billion cubic i'cct and is expected to rise 15 miles.
