DANNEVIRKE CHAMPIONSHIP C. E. MALFROY WINS SINGLES [by telegraph—press association] DANNEVIRKE, Wednesday The Dannevirke tennis championships concluded to-day. Following were tho results:— Men's Singles.—C. E. Malfroy (Wellington) beat L. H. Marchant (Napier), 6—2, 6—4. Ladies' Singles.—Miss Gould (Cliristr.hurch) beat Miss M. Rutherford (Feilding), 4—6, 6—l* 6—2. Boys' Singles.—J. W. Gunn (Auckland) beat H. D. Orton (Wanganui), 6—o, 6—3. Girls' Singles.—Miss Small (Wellington) beat Miss Crommalin (Dannevirke), 6—o, o—o.""'' Men's Doubles.—Malfroy and Gunn, beat Pearce (Otago) and Howe (Wellington),: 9—7, B—6. ■ ' v Ladies' Doubles.—Misses Gould and Whisker (Wellington) beat Misses Howell (Napier) and Scott (Hastings), (3—l, 6—l. AUSTRALIANS AT TAURANGA [by telegraph—own correspondent] TAURANGA, Wednesday There wag a large attendance at the Tauranga Tennis Club's courts to-day, when exhibition games were played by the Australians C. Sproule and C. Donohoe against J. C. Charters (Tauranga) and R. Lees (Matata) The Australians showed excellent form and the Bay of Plenty players were responsible for sound' resistance and made a creditable showing. In the singles Donohoe beat Lees, 6—2, 6—2, and Sproule beat Charters. 6—2, 6—3. The doubles was a good exhibition, the Australians winning, 6 2, 6—4, 6 —l. The visitors will leave for Ngatea to-morrow.
