Grimwado, of Blomficld Spa, Takapuna. is visiting Rotorua. Miss Carnachan, Dominion president of the National Council of Women, is visiting Wellington. Miss Alison Pearce, Wellington, who lias been visiting Auckland and Wanganui, has returned home. Miss, Elsa Loudoun, of Napier, who has been spending a holiday in Auckland, has returned homo. Mrs. R. T. Harris, Auckland, left by the limited express on Friday evening to visit her son in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Atkinson, Seatoun, Wellington, are spending a few days in Rotorua, en route to Auckland by car. Mrs. Ericksen has returned to Auckland after a visit to Dargaville. She was the guest of her sister, Mrs. J. M. Wallace. Mrs. Hugh Kirkcr, Arney Road, Remuera, will leave on Wednesday for a motor tour of Rotorua and the Hay of Plenty districts. Mrs. F. Von Kettle and Miss Hope I Bernau, of Napier, who have boon visiting Auckland, will leave by car to-day on their return home. Mrs. R. Masters, Mrs. Heath Freest and Miss Josie Heath Freest were the guests of Mrs. J. Preest, of Horsham Downs, Hamilton, for the week-end. Mrs. S. 0. English, of Hamilton Road, has returned from a visit to Wellington, where she attended the Dominion Conference of the League of Mothers. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ashton, of Auckland, who have been guests of Mr. and Miss Kresse, Fendalton. Christchurch, left for Dunedin and the Southern Lakes on Thursday. Staying at the Station Hotel are Mrs. J. Hessell, of Tarannki, Mrs. H. W. Laurence, of Wellington, Mrs. T. Corbett, of Hamilton, and 1 Mrs. F. H. Masters, of New Plymouth. The annual meeting of the Onelmnga Women's Christian Temperance Union was held on Thursday. Dr. J. Craig presided. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted in all officers being re-elected, including the superintendents of departments except for Maori work, of which Sister Gittos was appointed superintendent.

Mrs. W. R. Wilson, Chief Commissioner of New Zealand Girl Guides, lef'ls last evening for Dunedin to attend the annual conference of Girl Guide Commissioners. She was accompanied by Mrs. R. M. Tolhurst, chairwoman and president of the Dominion executive, Mrs. J. A. Watson, head of the Brownies for New Zealand, and Mrs. T. W. Leys, a member of the Dominion executive. Mrs. R. J. Coates, Auckland provincial commissioner, who is at present visiting Christchureh, also will attend the conference. The weekly concert arranged by Mrs. Raeburn and Mr. A. Hamblin at the public hospital was held in Ward I t, last week. The concert party ■ was organised by Mrs. Ernest Asher ! and a very delightful programme was given to a large audience, it consisted ! of songs, duets, violin and pianolorte : solos, and humorous items. Those taking part were: Mesdames Charles Simpson, ' Ernest Asher, Misses Gladys Stormout, I Violet Robinson, Messrs. S. Stephenj son, .T. J. Fox and A. 10. .leffery. Stewart, Sophia Street, when Bernard Shaw's play "Arms and the Man" was read. Mrs. Stewart received her guests wearing a frock ®f jade and cinnamon crepe de chine, and the floral decorations were of deep scarlet peonies and foliage. Those present were:—Mrs. H. Bertram, Mrs. IL 11. Davis, Mrs. Walsh, Miss A. O. Searell, Miss M. Maetier, Miss Doria Griffiths, Miss Joan Bertram, Miss Jean Pearce, Miss Gweiieth La Trobo Hill, and Miss Hazel Ford. In order to welcome home Miss Winsome Bach, who has been absent in England during the past three years, tho bridge circle of the Takapuna Boating Club held a card evening at flic residence of her mother, Mrs. 11. IT. Bach, of Norwood Road, Bayswater. Mrs. Bach wore a I rock of cedar brown ring velvet and Miss Winsome Bach an autumn-tinted floral chiffon frock. Progressive bridge was played, the winners being Mrs. Dowlc and Mr. M. Connelly. Among those present were: Mrs. C. Brinsden, Mrs. Dowlc, Mrs. Lonergan, Mrs. A. Braund, Mrs. J. Wheeler, Mrs J. Waddell, Mrs. R. Bach, Mrs. Rentoul, Mrs. W. White, Mrs. M. Connelly, Mrs. J. Watson, Mrs. H. Taylor and Mrs. Carroll.
