TITI RANG i CHAMPIONSHIP BRINSDEN DEFEATS YOUNG LOSER'S PUTTING FAILS The finnl of the Titrrangi Golf Chib'B chamiponship. which was played on Saturday between 11. D. Brinsden and .T. H. Young, resulted in a win for Brinsdcn, 3 mid 2. Tlio match wm over SO holes nnd the weather was fino and the course fast. The first two holes were halved in four iipd five. Young won the third with a three, but lost the short fourth and the next four holes were halved. At the eighth Hrinsden laid a fitymie on the edge of the hole, which Young failed to negotiate for tho half. The ninth was halved in four, leaving Brinsden one up at the turn. He increased his lend to two at the tenth. Young reduced the leeway by winning the Redan in three, but he played the 12th badly and Brinsden was again two up. Young won the Wrecker in four and fth.e 14th waa halved. Brinsden won the lMh and 16th in fours and was three up. At the 17th Young laid a stymie and Brinsden could only got a-half after being on the green with a very fine second. The 18th was halved in foure, leaving Brinsden three up. Brinaden'e medal score was 77 and Young b bO. In the afternoon Brinsden increased hia lead to four with a three at the first. The second and third were halved in four and live. Ycung missed a two-foot putt at tho fourth and became five down. Tho fifth wao halved in fives and Brinsden lost the sixth by failing to recover from a bunker. CLOSING AT MIDDLEMORE PRESENTATION OE PRIZES The Auckland Golf Club closed its season at Middlemore on Saturday with a mixed foursomes competition. There was a record entry of 212 players. At the close of the competition, prizes won during the season wero presented by Mrs. Milsom, wife of the president. Dr. E. 11. B. Milsom congratulated members on the successful season experienced and tho excellent condition of the course. He also congratulated H. Plumley on winning tho club championship, and the club's professional, E. J. Moss, on winning the New Zoalnnd open championship. Tho president also referred to tho club's success in winning the A and B grade pennant i competitions and the O'Rorko Vnso at the Now Zealand championship tournament. S. Chalmers, in the presence of a, good attendanco. Mr. Chalmers presented the trophies won by members during the season and congratulated the committers upon the splendid progress made during tho past season, lie said that with tho new season n full championship course of 6000 yds. would come into piny and during the past year five greens hud been added to tho course. Extensive improvements would also be made to lhe clubhouse. Over 120 players competed in the mixed foursomes, which wore won by Mrs. Atkinson and W. Bursess, 83, 13—71.
