MAHAKIPAWA WASH-UP The Mahakipawa (Marlborough)' wash-up for September produced lOOoz,. of melted gold. BELL HILL RETURN Bell Hill Sluicing Company (Ahaura, Nelson) reports a return for the month of 28oz. A thorough inspection of tha claim has been made with a view to making improvements. MURRAY CREEK REPORT Murray Creek Gold Mining Company, Limited (Reefton), reports that dewatering operations continued steadily during September. A pump is now being installed to lift the remaining water. A vertical depth of approximately 60ft. has yet to bo unwatered in order to reach tho bottom level (No* 4) before the mino will be dry. Satisfactory progress is being made with tho repairs to tho battery and goldsaving plant. WETHERSTONES PROGRESS Wetherstones Gold Mining Company, Limited (Otago), has issued the following progress report for the four weeks ended September 30: —The inclined shaft has been advanced 141 ft* to 727 ft. in conglomerate. On the 510 ft. level the drive east has been advanced 61ft. to 75ft., and connected to the loading pocket. The one pocket has been timbered, and also the drive north from the inclined shaft. The drive west, is now being driven to the contact, and has been advanced 13ft. to 20ft. - REPORTS OF MANAGERS Opitonui Developments, Limited (Coromandel). —The staff was concentrated on the R.T.S. section part of Hildo section, and three new reefs were located. They contain some ore of fair value, but nothing continuous. R.T.S* reef was further prospected and a valuable run of good grade ore was found to exist between two junctions. I located a reef south of the portal of R.T.S. tunnel. This gives a splendid tail of gold in the dish and it is about 30in. wide. „ , , Long Trail (Colville) We expect* with the ore in sight, to restart crush- v ing at the end of this week and then keep going to Christmas.
