NEW CHART FOR SCHOOLS
MODERN PRINTING PROCESS
FRUITGROWERS' ENTERPRISE
An excellent analytical illustration of the processes of modern colour printing has been prepared for use in schools by the co-operation of the New .Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation and Messrs. Wilson and Horton, Limited, and copies are being supplied with the approval of the education boards, to teachers throughout the Dominion. It is a reproduction in a series of miniatures, of the design used in tha federation's poster of the Delicious apple, a subject affording scope for attractive multiple printing in colours. The original design was produced by offset lithography, using five colours, and the chart shows, in nine panels, the actual contribution which each colour makes to the final picture and the method of combining them by successive printings. Yellow, red, brown, blue and pink are harmonised in the apple and a sixth colour was added as a background for the panels. The chart also contains a brief description of the actual printing process.
By the collaboration of the federation and its printers, teachers and children will be provided with an attractive adjunct to lessons 011 health and brushwork, and a graphic explanation of the manner in which one of the most fascinating products of modern printing machinery is obtained. Increased interest in New Zealand fruit will naturally bo cultivated by study of the pictures.
