Thursday After drizzling rain in the morning tho weather cleared before the first race had started at the opening of the Dunedin Jockey Club's Spring Meeting to-day. ,Thc track was holding and slow. The two-vear-old classic, the McLe&n Stakes, was won by Control, a brown gelding by the imported siro British Empiro from Windshield, dam of Shatter. Control is the first representative of his sire to race. Two inquiries were held during the clay, the first into alleged crossing by Control in the McLean Stakes anu the second into alleged interference by Reminder with Ainclita in the Taionia Handicap, Both inquiries were adjourned until Saturday morning.
