The monthly meeting of the Auckland branch of the Plunket Society was held ' at headquarters on Wednesday morn- . ing. Lady Sinclair-Lockhart presided, and those present were: —Mesdamea D. Ogilvie, M. P. Hooper, 0. R. Couxtenay, L. J. Shrubsall, T. Derrick, A. Henderson, J. Frater, J. 0. Allon, B. A. Hay, R. I'. Towle, A. Campbell, A. J. Beck, Di Poison, R. S. Whitley, J. E. Cowell, W. H. Worrall, L. 0. Dawson, D. Nathan, R. B. Cruickshank, T. llussell, E. J. WUkinson, A. McDonald, the Misses Colegrove and Statham. The committee asknowledged a donation of £6 from Miss Mills, of Northcote, this being the result of a little entertainment given by her pupdsm aid of the society, and also of three cot quilts knitted by these same children. For some time it has been felt that a room for the nurse in Newmarket would be a very great he!p to the mothers of Remuera, EpsomandParnell, to save their having to go all the way in to headquarters. For this purnose the committee of the Newmarket tree Kindergarten have given the use of their building for two or three afternoons a week. The committee also have been able to get three rooms in Dominion Road tor the sole use of the nurse in that district, and at a very reasonable rental. The society i y urgently' in need of funds to meet the extra calls of these difficult times and various means of raising money d 'During the month of August there were 153 new* babies and 49 expectant mothers were advised. The nursespaid 1280 visits to homes, and the number o f adults, infants and older children visiting the various offices totalled b/oU.
