CARNIVAL WEEK SUCCESS [bt telegraph—OWN correspondent] ROTORUA, Thursday The Rotorua Advancement Committee reported to the Borough Council last evening that the sports meetings . arranged for carnival week were very successful, and that the week's carni- . val showed a "profit, to the committee of about £4O. It was also stated that the business of the town during carnival week was better.than it had been at any time since Christmas. The council appointed a committee in connection with the South Auckland brass band contest, to be held in Rotorua next Easter. The Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, was appointed chairman, Mr. 0. H. Coleman vice-chairman, and the town clerk, Mr. W. A. Mac Lean, secretary. The council decided to draw the attention of the Government to the fact that bush on the Waikaremoana Road was likelv to be denuded, and asked that the bush should be preserved for scenic purposes. appointed
