SPEED REGULATIONS
HAMILTON-ROTORUA ROAD COUNTY COUNCIL'S ATTITUDE [by telegraph OWN correspondent"] ROTORUA, Thursday The action of the Public Works Department in revoking tho 1932 speed by-laws on the Te Papapapa-Rotorua section of the Hamilton-Rotorua main highway was discussed at a meeting of the Rotorua County Council yesterday. The chairman, Mr. H. P. Ford, said he considered that the department had no right to remove tho speed limit signs, placed on the Mamaku section, which is controlled by the council. While the department certainly maintained the road, the council was providing a subsidy, and the advisability of removing the speed limit was open to difference of opinion. Tho general opinion of the council was that some control of speed was necessary, and it was decided to seek tho support of the Matamata County in a protest to the department.
