VALUATION OF LAND
LOCAL BODY OBJECTIONS AMENDMENTS SUGGESTED Remits in connection with the valua* tion of land were considered at a meeting of the Auckland Suburban Local Bodies' Association last evening. Tho Papatoetoe Town Board requested that the association should press for a repeal of section 45 of the Valuation of Land Act, 1920, whereby an appellant, not satisfied with. the finding of the Assessment Court, may put his own capital value on a property, which must be taken over by the Crown at that figure, or the valuation accepted. Alternatively, it was suggested that the section should bo amended to provide that if tho Crov, n did wish to buy the land at the price offering, it should cause a Gazette notice to be issued allowing any_ person to buy tho land at tho price offered within two mouths. ', Al , „ A further remit requested that section 50 of tho Act be repealed, or amended to allow a local body tho right of being heard before an Assessment Court in objection to any new valuation made under this section. The remits were adopted. A remit was considered from ta« Papakura Town Board that the provisions of section 11 of the Valuation of Land Act, 1925, should not in their application affect a current year s rates. It was explained that under this section revaluations had' been received several rnontha after, the rates had been. struck.
