The morning was fine and sunny, but at three o'clock in the afternoon rain commenced and it continued < falling until a late hour. The movements of the barometer during the day • were unusually erratic. The wind was a cool southerly, Christchurch. —The weather yesterday was wet, 26 points of rain falling between midnight and 5 p.m. The barometer rose to 29.80 in. and the wind in the evening was fresh from the southwest. Dunedin. —A moderate south-west wind and showery weather prevailed yesterday. Conditions were cold, the maximum temperature being 44 degrees.
