FRUITGROWERS' STRIKE
BRITISH COLUMBIA ALLEGED UNFAIR PRICES s VANCOUVER, Sept. 12. British Columbian apple growers are striking against alleged unfair prices for fruit. They have organised 80 per cent of their number on a pledge to refuse to pick apples unless they are granted one cent a lb. Independent shippers are blamed for the crisis in the 50,000,000 dollar industry. Pickets are blocking bridges in the Okanagan Valley and stopping trucks bearing fruit from unpledged shippers and forcing their return to the ranches. Jobbers are organising to fight the movement.
