CHILDREN'S CALF CLUBS
STATE GRANT OF £2OO VALUE OF WORK RECOGNISED ! —. <•» [by telegraph—press association] WELLINGTON. Wednesday The announcement that the Cabinet had decided to provide £2OO for distribution among boys' and girls' calf clubs was made by the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture, this evening. The Minister said the movement had proved, most valuable in stimulating and developing interest in farming among scholars of primary schools, and, as it had been represented that the withdrawal of the Government subsidy was likely seriously to prejudice the work of the clubs, the matter had been further considered by the Cabinet, which had decided to make available a sum not exceeding £2OO for distribution to clubs. For no club would the subsidy exceed £2O.
