AUCKLAND ( SUCCESSES THREE FROM TAKANINI DEAD-HEAT IN HANDICAP SPEEDMINT AND CURIE j [BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION] MARTON, Wednesday Spring racing in New Zealand was successfully opened to-da.v with the Marton Jockey Club's Meeting which was held in good weather and on an excellent track, while the attendance was the largest for many yenrs. Totalisator investments showed a substantial rise, the machine haiidling £6751, compared with.£4937 last year, an increase of £lßl4. A feature of the racing was thd siftcess of the Auckland horses Cherrv King, Tavern Knight and Speedmint, of whoin are trained at Takanini. The first two won outright and Speedmint dead-heated with Curie in the chief race, the Marton Handicap. K. oitre, who established a record of 123 wins last season, rode three winners, Whenuakura, Pango and Curie (dead-heat) v these being his first successcs in the new season.
