ALTERATION OF RIGGING Extensive alterations are being mad«v in the rig of the Gisborne Sheersfarmers 1 motor-vessel -Margaret W.,. now at Bang's Wharf. Since the vessell was built 14 years ago she has been rigged as a four-masted schooner. The after-mast, or jigger-mast, as it is; called, is hollow and is used as a funnel for the exhaust gases from the.' motor engines. This mast will be shortened by 16ft. and the fore, main and mizzen masts will be removed and replaced by two new kauri masts, which: will be fitted in the places of the maim and mizzen masts. The present foremast will not be replaced, thus making; the fore-deck more roomy. The two new!' masts will be fitted with derricks for* the loading and discharging of cargo. The Margaret W. is a steel vessel of: 394 tons gross and she was built in Sweden in 1919, her name then being' the Margot. In November, 1926, was purchased in Denmark by Captain A. F. Watchlin for the intercolonial i and coastal trade and she was then , given her present name. Five years ago i the vessel was purchased by the Gisborne Sheapfarmers and sinoe that timei she has been engaged in the 'Auckland-. , east coast trade.
