SUPPLIES OF METAL
NORTH AUCKLAND QUARRY A " . ————— [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAREI, Wednesday As the result of co-operation between ■ the Railway Department, the Unemployment BoarS and the Public Works Department, the department has been in a position to keep> its quarry at Tifuraroa working at full capacity during the winter months, a period when the quarry is usually closed. This year the Railway Department has.met the Public Works Department by making a substantial reduction in railway freight charges for metal, thus enabling important developmental undertakings to be carried out both by local bodies and private individuals. The arrangement does not permit of any competition with private enterprise in the sale of the metal. - Orders amounting to 20,000 <jubic yards have been received during this winter, which exceeds the output of the quarry for the whole of last summer.
