LAND FOR SMALL FARMS
WHANGAMATA DISTRICT VISIT BY COMMISSIONER [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WAIHI, Wednesday The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr. K. M. Graham, and a party including Mr. A. M. Samuel. M.P., returned from a visit to Whangamata last evening. Owing; to the adverse weather conditions and the state of the roads it was not found possible to inspect certain of the areas suggested as suitable for settlement under the small farms scheme, but as the result of a conference with the district Settlers' Association Mr. Graham promised t<T approach the Forestry Department with a view to sotting aside suitable blocks under its control for subdivision into small farms.
Owing to the condition of the roads, the party's visit to Coromandel to inspect land available there was temporarily abandoned.
