PLAYERS IN AMERICA FINDING BEST DOUBLES TEAiM {Received August 25, 6.5 p.in.) BROOKLINES, Aug. 24 The Australian tennis champion, Jack Crawford, to-day explained his mission to the United States. He said: "It is vital for Australia's future Davis Cup hopes to develop a good doubles team this season. "Four of us competed in the Davis Cup and the British and French championships without finding out our strongest combination, but we expect to have our problem solved for us at Longwood. Wo have no such galaxy of doubles teams in Australia as you have here. Accordingly we are handicapped when we make our Davis Cup selections."

STATUS OF VINES UPHELD AS AMATEUR NEW YORK, Aug. 24 The Amateur Rules Committee of the United States Lawn Tennis Association announced to-day that its investigation into the status of Ellsworth Vines had revealed no basis for the charge that he had violated the amateur rule.
