PLAYING WITH POWDER
SERIOUS EXPLOSION TWO BOYS BURNED Albert Morrison, aged 13, and Richard Brookes, aged three, were burned practically from head to foot at Ipswich, Queensland, recently, and were admitted to hospital. Morrison and Brookes called at another boy's home, where a portion of a bag of blasting powder was found by them. They waited till nightfall, when they'lit a fire, into whjch they threw small portions of the powder. It is thought that eventually a portion of the powder became alight near a large quantity in the bag, which immediately exploded. The boys became human torches. They rushed toward a small creek near by, into which they jumped, tearing off their burning clothes as they ran. The condition of the boys was medically described as serious.
