SOLD AS OLD IRON 5 The Edinburgh police were recently searching second-hand shops and simi- .*?? lar places for an old iron wash-pot containing a number of banknotes, deposit and private papers of value to the late owners. A few weeks '"previously the washpot was the property of the: Misses * Thallon, who had stored it in their house, for a long time. A hawker called at their house and asked if they had any old household goods for-disposal, and he was given the wash-pot with a few other articles. The sister who sold the pot was unaware at the time that it contained the valuable papers and money, and it was not until a week later mistake was realised.
