NOTIONS FOR LINGERIE

VOGUE FOR PINK Lingerie seems to grow* finer and finer these clays. A good deal of it is carried out in georgette or flowered chiffon, while less luxurious models aro most attractively expressod in printed voiles, states a London writer. Most of tho latest underwear is cut on tho cross, since this is tho most successful method of introducing fullness without clumsiness, while shoulder straps aro almost universally made of flesh-coloured georgette, which provides a most unobtrusivo strap, yet at the same time is quite strong enough to hold one's slips in place. The old-fashioned frock lining has now quite given way to tho bias cut slip that is closely moulded to the figure and can in no way spoil the line of tho frock that is worn above it. Even for tho daytime, theso slips aro now being chosen and they are worn over matching knickers that are gut with tho flat-shaped piece at the waist that is so much more satisfactory than elastic. Tailored underwear is fashionable for tho daytime, made of washing satin or crepe do chine. Coral is one of the new colours for lingerie and it is a most effective one. All pinks aro rather in vogue at the moment and a good deal of peach pink and shell pink is seen, while white seems to bo returning to favour as well. Sheer linen is being used for some of the loveliest of the new lingerie, either in white or in flower printed designs. The white is generally trimmod with exquisite hand embroidery, worked sometimes in soft pastel colours. Nightgowns are much more popular agaiu, and this is hardly to be wondered at, for the latest designs are delightful. The decollete nightgown is now not so new as the nightgown that has a tiny cape or puff sleeves. Chiffon nightgowns gain an added interest when they are finished with a little lace cape that ties round in front with a satin ribbon; puff sleeves prove a charming finish for high-waisted satin nightdresses of Empire persuasion. It is worth noting that lace is now being dyed to match the lingerie that it trims. So that you may have blue or pink or green lace, as a change from the ecru and coffee shades that have been fashionable for so long. The cross-over bodice is also pretty for nightgowns and many of these crossover nightgowns are really very like evening frocks, since they have long flared skirts and look most formal. Fichu trimmings are edged with lace and skirt hems are bordered with ruffles, just like the latest garden party frocks. One of the newest ideas is to have a bedroom ensemble of printed chiffon, the nightgown being completed by a dressing gown trimmed in exactly the same way, although if you are feeling in practical mood, you do choose a chiffon dressing gown that is lined with crepe de chine, since this gives it a little more substance.
