WORKERS INJURED
GELIGNITE EXPLOSION THREE SENT TO HOSPITAL CHARGE STRUCK BY PICK ONE MAN'S CONDITION GRAVE [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN' CORRESPONDENT] DUNEDIN. Thursday An accidental explosion of gelignite occurred at tho public, works dam at Mamiherikia, near Oturehua, about 100 miles from Dunedin, this afternoon and as tho result two men and a youth, all formerly resident in Dunedin. were admitted to tho Maniototo Hospital, at Banfurly. The victims were: — Kenneth Cameron,, aged 21 formerly of South Dunedin, seriously injured. John Scoles, aged 17, deep cuts about the head and face. John Pauley, aged 27, minor injuries. The accident occurred in tho early part of tho afternoon. It is understood that the injured were working with picks over ground where a charge of gelignite had previously been laid. One of them struck tho explosive with his pick. They were attended by Dr. Scrvmgeour, of Omakau, who despatched them to the hospital at Kanfurlv. Mr. Cameron's condition is reported to bo very crave. The other two are also suffering from shock.
