th OHINEMUTU IMPROVEMENTS TREE-PLANTING PROPOSALS [by telegraph—own correspondent] ROTORUA, Thursday The Rotorua Borough Council has agreed to co-operate with the Ohinemutu and Tarcwa native committee in regard to a comprehensive tree-plann-ing scheme for beautifying the native village of Ohinoniutu. Ilio Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, said that tho Native Department had established ft nurseiy for native trees and it was intended to obtain trees from the nursery. He considered the native committee should be encouragsd, as it was a good_ thing that tho niitives were endeavouring to beautify their villages. . Mr. F. J. Lineham, drainage engineer, reported that, following experiments on drainage works ao Whakarewarowa, where the use ot sulphur had been extended to the making ; of sulphur concrete, test blocks liad been forwarded to Auckland University College for the purpose of having strength tests made. The tests disclosed that sulphur concrete produced a compressive strength of, 30 per cent in excess of tho requirements of firstclass cement concrete.
