HAMILTON BOROUGH
SAVINGS BANK BRANCH TRUSTEES NOT FAVOURABLE [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday A request that the Auckland Savings Bank should establish a branch at Hamilton was made several weeks ago by the Hamilton Borough Council. At its meeting last evening the, council received a communication from the trustees of the bank stating that the present was inopportune for opening the suggested branch. The trustees thanked the council for its offer of support. A suggestion from a. ratepayer that a footpath should ho formed on the railway reserve from Seddon Road to Lake Road was received. The borough engineer, Mr. R. Worley, was authorised to carry out the. work with relief labour, tho council's expenses being estimated at £l2. Approval was received from the Marine Department for a slipway which the Hamilton Power-boat Club proposes to erect ou the Waikato River near the motorists' camp, south of the Hamilton traffic bridgo. It was agreed to accept £lO a year, plus tho water charge, from tho Hamilton Rugby Union in settlement of the rate accounts for this year and next year.
