NEW CONVALESCENT HOME
Sir,—-The gpnornus jrjft of a convalescent home given hy Mrs. C. A. Whitney to the Auckland City Mission is an excellent example of tho publicspirited attitude. of many of our Auckland citizens. Whitneydalo, as it is called, is now open, and has already admitted patients who are unable to pay for such an institution elsewhere. Unfortunately, 1 am a little anxious as to the upkeep of this institution. As Mr. C. A. Whitney has very kindly opened a fund with a substantial donation of £SO, 1 am making this appeal to the citizens <>f Auckland with the idea of enlisting their practical sympathy in this excellent movement. Nobody realises more than i do tbe constant demands that are made from time to time upon the citizens' generosity. Believing as I do, however, that there may he many people who would gladly give if they realise the need, X venture to ask from your readers ior some measure of support to this muchneeded branch of our medical activities. Tn this beautiful spot the tired mother, the nerve-racked soldier, or the convalescent surgical case can find rest, quiet, and nourishing food to help them win back their former health and strength, Jasper Cai-der, C'itv Misi'ioner.
