HOPES lli AUSTRALIA The Prime Minister of Australia, MrLyons, in a recent speech in Melbourne, reiterated his promise that thp Federal Ministry would, as soon as possible, make further / remissions of taxation with a view to relieving industry. "We have had requests from many quarters for relief from sales tax," MrLyons said. "The people who pay land tax desire its abolition. Then there is a just demand for the removal of the awful, stupid super-tax on income from property. X agree that taxation has a depressing effect on industry. Heavy taxation is no gDod to any country. / "Eighty per c<nt of the employment in Australia is found by private enterprise, which mist be encouraged. The Federal JNlinistiy is concerned about the effect of taxation on industry, ana the moment it can relieve the burden, lC will."
