WRESTLING AT WELLINGTON VARGA THROWN OVER ROPES CONTEST NOT EXCITING [I3Y TELECRAPH —FRIQSS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Thursday A record crowd in 'tho winter show stadium this evening witnessed George Walker's first roverso of tho present wrestling season. In the fifth round of t«he contest with Count Josef Varga, when honours wero even with a fall each, Walker dumped tho Hungarian over tho ropes. Ho was warned by the referee, but si few seconds later repeated tho barred dump and was disqualified. Tho preceding rounds were even but contained littlo to remoTO them from tho commonplace. Walker's showing was disappointing and .neither man seemed disposed to force tiho pace. Hie New Zealand champion's wtrist was bandaged and in the fourth and fifth rounds the tender spot appeared to be causing him discomfort. Both falls wero taken with surprising ease. In the second roond, after a scries of chancery throws Varga pinned Walker with a simple bend lock and press. In tho third round "Varga submitted to a hammerlock within 25 seconds of tho bell. Tho final decision met with a mixed reception, the crowd demonstrating noisily for some minutes.
