LADIES' HOCKEY
DOMINION TOURNAMENT AUCKLAND LOSES AGAIN [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION"] DANNEVIRKE, Thursday The annual tournament of the New Zealand Ladies' Hockey Association was continued to-day. Rain fell in the morning, but the weather was fine in the afternoon, although the grounds were somewhat heavy. Following were the results:— Section A.—Canterbury, 4, beat, .Akitio, 3; Ruahine B, 2, drew with Wairarapa B, 2; Southland, 2, beat Auckland, 0. * Section B.—Ashburton, 2, beat Ruahine, 1; Otago, 4, beat Feilding, 0; Wellington, 2, beat Wanganui, 0 Section C. —Bush, 6, beat Manawatu, 2; Marlborough, 2, beat Wairarapa A, 1; Eastern, 5, beat Taranaki, 1. The Southland-Auckland match was a hard, fast game. Auckland was the aggressor in the first half of the first spell and was somewhat unlucky in not scoring. Miss V. Robb saved repeatedly for Southland. In the second half Southland had a slight advantage throughout. Miss V. Isaacs and Miss M. Graham were the best of the losers.Mrs. Carnac, oij the wing, was well marked and had few opportunities. Southland was sound on defence in a game with a lot of passing movements. In the match between Canterbury and Akitio, Miss Bowie, an Akitio player, broke a small bone in the lei t leg through colliding with another player. Following is the draw for to-morrow: Section A. —Akitio r. Ruahine B, Wairarapa v. Southland, Canterbury v. Auckland. Section B.—Feilding v. Ashburton, Wellington v. Ruahino- A, Otago v. Wanganui. Section C. —Bush v. Wairarapa A, Marlborough v. Eastern, Taranaki v. Manawatu.
