Finally it collided with the rear of another tram.

Eye-witnesses state that it wag miraculous that several people were not killed, so severe was tho impact. Both trams 'were badly damaged. Some of tho passengers, realising that an accident was inevitable, leapt from the runaway tram at the risk of their lives among the dense, fast-moving, motor traffic.

There wero scenes of great confusion where the collision occurred. Terrified women suffering from shock and lacerations received attention on the spot. As a result of the accident there was a complete block in the traffic in Cleveland Street, which is a busy highway on the fringe of the city.
