CARGO RETURNS LOWER DECREASE IN CASH RECEIPTS A decrease of 30,941 tons in the - amount of cargo imported during July compared with July last year r.as shown in a return submitted by the traffic manager, Mr. "W. R. Golden, at', a meeting of the Auckland Harbour, • • Board yesterday. The total tonnage was 54,219. In June this year 59,055 tons of i. cargo entered the port. Importations,., from Pacific Coast ports in Jtily in-;;; eluded 4248 tons' of motor spirit, and 3380 tons of motor spirit came from Singapore. A total of 7158 tons of cargo 5 was received from the United Kingdom, ... including 1604 tons of salt. Raw sugar. from Java amounted to 7785 tons. Slight decreases in the cash receipts from both harbours for July, compared; with July last year, were reported by. the treasurer, Mr. C. F. Garratt. It' was stated that the small decrease' did, not materially affect the advantageous result in the 10 months' review, which showed an increase of £9779 over the' v" corresponding period last year. In the Waitemata account, July receipts totalled £29,738, which was £353 less than for July last year. For the 10 months ended' July- 31, the Waitemata account totalled £271,573, an increase of £9987 over the corresponding period in 1932, and an excess of £19,620 over the estimate for that portion of the year. . Arrivals and departures in July were ~, reported by the harbourmaster, Captain • H. H. Sergeant. A total of 417 vessels- -«* had. arrived, including 16 British overseas merchant vessels, of 321,975 gross >,■ tons, and 190,936 net tons. Compared.,,"; with the corresponding period last year,." 7' overseas merchant shipping showed, ai' 7 decrease of two vessels, and intercolonial shipping a decrease of five.- A summary of the large merchant shipping showed a decrease of eight vessels, of 36,451 gross tons and 24,646 net tons. Departures numbered 408 vessels, amounting to 359,551 gross tons and ■. 211,072 net tons.
