TECHNICAL QUESTIONS

SUB-COMMITTEE SET UP, PROPOSED ADVISORY BODY British Wireless RUGBY, Aug. 21 An official communique issued after this morning's session of the World Wheat Conference stated that the delegates had considered ways und means by which tho importing countries could best assure that measure of co-operation upon which tho entry into force of the agreement between tho exporting countries depends. When the proceedings wero resumed in the afternoon it was agreeed that a sub-committee should be appointed to report on the various technical questions arising under the basis for discussion submitted by the exporting countries, especially the suggestion that the conference should agree that substantial improvement in the price of wheat should have as its consequence a lowering of customs tariffs when the international price of wheat reaches, and maintains for a specified period, an average price to be fixed. It was added that while the rate of duty might vary for different countries, it would not be sufficiently high to encourage farmers in those countries»to increase their wheat acreage. It was also agreed that a sub-com-mittee should bo appointed to consider the question of setting up an International Advisory Committee. Both subcommittees will report by Wednesday morning, and the conference will be resumed that afternoon, when it is expected that all the delegates will have received full instructions from their Governments.
