DIRT TRACK RACING.

VICTORY OF AUSTRALIANS After breaking aIP American dirtv. track racing records, members of tho Australian team, J. S. Hoskins, F. Arthur and J. W. Harris, are returning to Sydney by the Niagara, which arrived from Vancouver yesterday. In every race in which they participated they won easily. "Tho Americans havo not quite mastered tho broadsiding game," remarked Jlr. Hoskins, a New Zealander who has been managing the Australian team's affairs. "The Australians and the English x-iders aro far ahead of them and I believo Now Zealand, also, would beat them. They have only recently started broadsiding iu Now York, and there is only one dirt track at Coney Island, but tho sport is spreading in other parts of America and" in California there are ten good tracks. It looks like "becoming a major sporfc in that State; it/is the fashionable thing for tho film stars to buy machines for their favourite riders." Mr. Hoskins said that while they were in the United States they heard of a proposal to send aft"" American team from the Pacific Coast to Australia and New Zealand. Ho hoped arrangements would shortly be completed. Ho also expressed tho hope that an exchange of Australian and New Zealand riders would be effected next year.
