"THRIFTLESS PERSON"
YOUNG MAN SENTENCED REFORMATIVE DETENTION "This young man's trouble is principally due to drink," said Mr. Sexton", .counsel for Leonard Otto Hardy, labourer, aged 26, who appeared before Mr. Justice Smith - in -.the Supreme Court yesterday for sentence on a charge of breaking and entering the warehouse of Tyler's, Limited, with intent to commit a crime. Prisoner had been found guilty largely on the evidence of finger-print- experts. Counsel said prisoner had been under the influence of an older man, with whom he had come to Auckland from Dunedin. No information could be obtained from him regarding the other man. His Honor said prisoner was a thriftless person who did not desire to work and who threatei I d to become part of the wastage of humanity. He had not profited from a former term of probation, and would be sentenced to reformative detention for a period not exceeding two years.
