300 MILES IN A DINGHY
SEVEN-DAY TRIP IN 20FT. BOAT Having made th'e ;!00-milo trip from Bergen alone in. a 20ft. dinghy, Bjarni Oysteinsen, a Norwegian fisherman, arrived at Aberdeon looking bronzed and fit. The voyage took seven days, and was undertaken by Oysteinsen to prove the seaworthiness of his little craft, which has a sail and two oars. The provisions for the trip consisted of a Quantity of " hardtack," four loaves, 21b. of butter, some cheese and syrup, and two and a-half gallons of water) in which the fisherman said he put some prunes to give it a. better taste. Ho stated that lie had experienced a fair wind on the trip, except on one night,i when it became stormy and ho had to reef his sail. He rowod when lie had an opportunity. Oysteinsen got in touch with a trawler on the West Bank, and when 25 miles from Aberdeen the trawler towed him to near Aberdeen. The only sign of Oysteinsen's 300milo trip was that his lips wore cracked with the salt water. His provisions were just finished.
