ROOPE ROOSTER SEMI-FINAL MARIST TO PLAY RICHMOND r FAST MATCH ANTICIPATED A splendid contest is anticipated at Carlaw Park to-morrow nfternoon when the semi-final of tho Auckland Rugby League's Roope Rooster competition will be decided. Marist, \vhich was runner-up in the senior championship, will meet the much-improved Richmond team, and the game should be fast and thrilling throughout. Marist has been a little erratic in form at times, but can be depended upon to test the opposition fully to-morrow. Richmond has been considerably strengthened by the return of Cooko to its ranks ar.d in. many quarters is favourite ' for to-morrow's match The Richmond forwards have been playing well in recent matches and the result depends a .good deal on the successful team in hooking the ball from tho scrums. Even if Marist wins in this department, it would appear that the Richmond vanguard will be superior in others. Providing conditions are fast, one of the best games of the season can be expected. Schoolboys will play matches as n curtain-raiser to the chief contest. At Ellerslie the Newton and Ponsonby senior teams will play an exhibition match.
