CATTLE FROM TEXAS
INTEREST IN SYDNEY ZEBUS ON THE WAIHEMO (Received August 2, 8.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. Aug. 2 There was much ' interest among cattlemen to-day in the arrival by the Waihemo, from Los Angeles, of 19 head of Zebu cattle selected froni picked ranches in Texas by an expert of the Commonwealth Council for Scientific anil Industrial Research, of which Dr. J. A. Gilruth is chief of the division of animal husbandry. Dr. Gilruth visited Texas 12 years ago and was much impressed by the use being made of the Zebu type. This consignment will bo distributed among four representative graziers in North Australia to cross with local beef cattle, so as to evolve a type particularly adapted to tropical areas, where at least 60 per cent of beef cattle is reared.
