FIRE BRIGADE'S WORK
OEVONPORT OUTBREAK COUNCIL'S 'APPRECIATION The Devonport Borough Council at a meeting last evening decided to send a letter' of appreciation to the fire brigade for the manner in which it had handled the fire in Calliope Road on July- 31, and also to the Navy for the help given.. Reference was made to the hold the fire had before the brigade was notified of the outbreak, and it was pointed out that the nearest lire alarm was almost half-a-mile away. It was decided to make an inquiry as to the advisability of installing an alarm in the vicinity. *
